    Notizen: Probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) is a methodology to assess the probability of failure or success of a system's operation. PRA has been proved to be a systematic, logical, and comprehensive technique for risk assessment. Software plays an increasing role in modern safety critical systems. A significant number of failures can be attributed to software failures. Unfortunately, current probabilistic risk assessment concentrates on representing the behavior of hardware systems, humans, and their contributions (to a limited extent) to risk but neglects the contributions of software due to a lack of understanding of software failure phenomena. It is thus imperative to consider and model the impact of software to reflect the risk in current and future systems. The objective of our research is to develop a methodology to account for the impact of software on system failure that can be used in the classical PRA analysis process. A test-based approach for integrating software into PRA is discussed in this article. This approach includes identification of software functions to be modeled in the PRA, modeling of the software contributions in the ESD, and fault tree. The approach also introduces the concepts of input tree and output tree and proposes a quantification strategy that uses a software safety testing technique. The method is applied to an example system, PACS.

    Notizen: The problem of multiple site damage (MSD) has got more attention in ageing structures.Cumulative effects of interacting cracks may significantly degrade the damage tolerance capacity ofstructures. Cracks caused by MSD are extremely difficult to detect and greatly reduce the residualstrength, fatigue life and overall structural integrity of aircraft panels. This paper presents a simplenumerical method, which use the principles of fracture mechanics and the computation results, topredict the fatigue crack growth life of MSD structure. Comparing with calculating crack growth lifecycle by cycle, this method will save much time. To verify the validity of the proposed method,experiment was conducted and reported with simulation specimen of representative MSD structurewith 5 details. The comparison between the calculated a-N curves and the crack growth lives and thetest results shows that the prediction result with this fast method is acceptable. A discussion wascarried out by numerical analysis; in with typical MSD structures with different initial crack lengthwere adopted. Crack interaction effect was found obviously, but it occurred mainly in the last part ofthe crack growth lives. The relative size of MSD cracks depends significantly on the distribution ofthe initial cracks

    Notizen: Taylor series numerical method is a novel time integration method for structural dynamics.In comparison with the well-known ones, Taylor series method has high accuracy and goodconvergence characteristics and thus is a good alternative for solving structural dynamics problems.In the paper, the recursive formulae of Taylor series numerical method in linear and nonlinearstructural dynamics are derived. The desired user routine in Fortran 90, which was compiled andlinked into the general software ANSYS program, is designed and programmed. User-defined menusare constructed via the User Interface Design Parameter. Numerical examples illustrated the validityof the customized plug-in.     Notizen: Molybdenum coatings are commonly used in the industry for protection against wear. Withan aim to investigate the erosion properties of this coating, molybdenum coating was sprayed ontoboth AISI 1045 and nickel-based superalloy (GH3039) substrate by electro-thermal explosionultra-high speed spraying process. Phase composition, microstructure and microhardness of thecoatings were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) andmicrohardness tester, respectively. Erosion tests of the coating at different particle impingement angeland material sample temperature were performed on a GW/CS-MS type tester. The high erosionresistance of the coating can mainly be attributed to high hardness, low porosity and metallurgicalbonding between the coating and the substrate

    Notizen: The analytical evaluation and finite element methods are used to analyze the criticalstability of the shallow spherical roof of oil storage tank with an axial symmetrical corrosion region.At first, the nonlinear finite element method is adopted to calculate the global critical load of thestorage tank roof, and the local corrosion region is equivalent to a circular corrosion pit with uniformdepth. The results show that the tank wall and inner pressure of the stored oil have slight effects on thestability of the roof. To build the formula of local critical load of the tank roof, the circular corrosionpit is separated from the whole roof and treated as a shallow spherical shell which is elasticallysupported on the rest part of the roof. The equivalent support stiffness is obtained by the deformationcompatibility at the edge of the corrosion pit. The resulted nonlinear stability equation is solved witha modified iteration method to determine the local critical load. The local critical load for anin-service corroded oil tank roof is analyzed by the proposed approach and the results are comparedwith those calculated by the conventional nonlinear finite element method with good agreement andthe geometrical parameter of the corrosion region corresponding to the minimal critical load is 9.5

    Notizen: In this work, a new method, electro-thermal explosion ultra-high speed spraying (EEUSS),was utilized to synthesize the titanium carbide based and nickel bonded (TiC-xNi) coatings. Thenickel content was varied at the weight percents of 5, 10, 15 and 20%. The microstructure andproperties of the coatings were studied by means of scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-raydiffraction (XRD) and microhardness tester, respectively.     Notizen: Toray T300 PAN-based carbon fibers were surface oxidized in air at 300, 400 and 500 °C. Thecomposition of surface was determined by X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS), and themonofilaments of original carbon fiber and surface oxidized carbon fibers were tensile tested at roomtemperature. Three-dimensional carbon fiber reinforced BN-Si3N4 matrix composites were prepared byprecursor infiltration and pyrolysis using a hybrid precursor mixed by borazine and perhydropolysilazane.With the increase of the oxidation temperature, the content of size on the surface of fiber reduces, and thetensile strength of carbon fiber declines. Carbon fiber oxidized at 400 °C has a 93% residual strength andthe fiber oxidized at 500 °C is seriously decayed. The composite reinforced by original carbon fibersexhibits excellent mechanical properties, including high flexural strength (182.3 MPa) and goodtoughness; while the composite reinforced by 400 °C oxidized carbon fibers is weak (only 102.4 MPa)and brittle. The distinct difference of mechanical properties between the two composite is attributed to thechange of the interfaces between carbon fibers and nitride matrices

A spatial error model is taken for presenting a vector method to calculate the contour errorin three-axis machine tool and an adaptive cross coupled controller which is based on neuralnetwork is presented.
