Notes: Vascular inflammation is well known for its ability to compromise the function of the blood–brain barrier (BBB). Whether inflammation on the parenchymal side of the barrier, such as that associated with Parkinson's-like dopamine (DA) neuron lesions, similarly disrupts BBB function, is unknown. We assessed BBB integrity by examining the leakage of FITC-labeled albumin or horseradish peroxidase from the vasculature into parenchyma in animals exposed to the DA neurotoxin 6-hydroxydopamine (6OHDA). Unilateral injections of 6OHDA into the striatum or the medial forebrain bundle produced increased leakage in the ipsilateral substantia nigra and striatum 10 and 34 days following 6OHDA. Microglia were markedly activated and DA neurons were reduced by the lesions. The areas of BBB leakage were associated with increased expression of P-glycoprotein and β3-integrin expression suggesting, respectively, a compensatory response to inflammation and possible angiogenesis. Behavioural studies revealed that domperidone, a DA antagonist that normally does not cross the BBB, attenuated apomorphine-induced stereotypic behaviour in animals with 6OHDA lesions. This suggests that drugs which normally have no effect in brain can enter following Parkinson-like lesions. These data suggest that the events associated with DA neuron loss compromise BBB function.

Notes: Performing an event-based continuous kinetic Monte Carlo (KMC) simulation, Weinvestigate the growth conditions which are important to form semiconductor quantum dot (QD) inmolecular beam epitaxy (MBE) system. The simulation results provide a detailed characterization ofthe atomic kinetic effects. The KMC simulation is also used to explore the effects of periodic strain tothe epitaxy growth of QD. The simulation results are in well qualitative agreement with experiments

Notes: A new method to fabricate porous chitosan nerve conduits with multi-channels wasdescribed. A uniquely designed mold was composed of 7-50 stainless steel needles and a set of plastic pedestals. Porous or imperforate chitosan tubes with 2-5mm inner diameter and 0.2-1.0 mm wall thickness were made firstly. The chitosan tubes were injected with 3% chitosan gel. The stainless steel needles longitudinally perforated through the chitosan tubes filled with chitosan gel, and the plastic pedestals were used to fix the needles. Lyophilization was used to finish fabrication. The diameter of channels was 0.2-0.4mm. Swelling property and biodegradability ofMulti-channeled chitosan conduits were investigated. Wright’s staining and scanning electron microscope (SEM) were used to observe spread and proliferation of Neuroblastoma cells (N2A, mouse) on the conduits. It is promising that the porous chitosan nerve conduits with multi-channels are used as nerve tissue engineering scaffolds in repair of peripheral nerve and spinal cord injuries

Notes: This paper introduced present application in the world and some problems in thecalibration technique of 3D measuring system. Auto-calibration technique of multiple targetstracking for detecting outline based on random placement and regular number is put forward. At thesame time, the concrete algorithm is given. Then, according to the algorithm, the correspondingexperimental result is obtained. Furthermore, the calibration accuracy is compared and analyzed. Finally, it comes to a conclusion that this algorithm can make the operation more simple andconvenient. And the calibration accuracy is kept within 0.03mm
