Notes: Abstract We propose a study of the second-order coherence properties of radiation, such as inelastically scattered laser light, by performing an excess photon coincidence rate experiment a la Hanbury Brown-Twiss. The calculation evaluates the second-order correlation function of the electromagnetic field for an arbitrary number of coherent modes overlapped in phase space by a chaotic radiation field. We discuss the application of the general result to a specific case, namely the case of a single mode laser, and the Stokes radiation produced in a Brillouin-active medium, and a suitable part of the spectrum produced by causing dielectric breakdown in air.

Notes: Abstract Various non-leptonic decay modes of baryons are calculated in a simple quark model. Form factors for various matrix elements are taken both from experiment and the quark model. Additionally theK→2π andK→3π decay modes are computed in the same model. The theory has theΔ I=1/2 rule and static SU6 built-in. A relation between the∑ +→N + π + decay, not calculable in the model, and theK→3π decay is given via an effective six quark interaction. Agreement with experiment is order of magnitude for the baryonic decays and worse for theK decays.

Notes: Abstract The Coulomb interaction induces low-energy electronic collective modes (LEECM) in layered conductors. We study how the superconducting critical temperature T c is affected by such collective modes within the strong-coupling theory of superconductivity. Whereas we account for both the electron–phonon and the screened Coulomb interactions, the main focus is set on the latter. The dielectric function is displayed and screening within RPA is discussed. We then show that LEECM affect the superconducting state constructively in layered structures. Their effect can be interpreted as a negative μ* in the Eliashberg theory. We examine in what respect the collective-mode scenario differs in layered conductors as compared to three-dimensional (3D) isotropic metals.
