Abstract The results of two recent publication are reconsidered. These papers argue that the p-wave effects seen in the7 Li(p, γ) 8 Be reaction belowE p=80 keV can be accounted for by considering the low-energy tail of the p-wave resonance atE p=441 keV. It is shown that the cross section and analyzing power data require an order-of-magnitude more p-wave strength when considered together.
