Notes: Abstract A study of charge relaxation processes in metal-insulator-semiconductor structures containing the rare-earth oxides Gd2O3 and Lu2O3 as the insulator has been performed using the deep-level transient spectroscopy (DLTS) method in combination with a study of nonlinear oscillations in the metal-insulator-semiconductor structure connected to an external inductive circuit. On the basis of the DLTS results and the variation with temperature of the configuration of the period multiplicity regions of the controlling parameters (the amplitude and frequency of the applied voltage) it is shown that the generation of nonlinear oscillations in a metal-insulator-semiconductor structure is governed by the properties of the insulator-semiconductor interface, in particular, the density of surface states and the capture cross sections.

Notes: Abstract A study of emission spectra of a gas-discharge plasma produced in a HgBr/HgCl excimer lamp, which is filled with multicomponent working mixtures at atmospheric pressure (HgBr2 and HgCl2 with additions of molecular nitrogen and xenon), are reported. A gas-discharge plasma was produced by high-frequency (pulses ∼100 ns long with a repetition rate of up to 2000 Hz) barrier and surface discharges, which took place simultaneously. Emission of HgBr* and HgCl* excimer molecules, the second positive system of molecular oxygen, and helium and xenon lines in the UV, visible, and IR spectral regions was observed. The strongest emission of HgBr* and HgCl* molecules (the emission intensities were in the ratio 10:1) was observed in the HgBr2: HgCl2: N2: He mixture. Regularities in spectral and integrated characteristics of gas-discharge plasma emission are discussed.

Notes: Abstract Results of experimental and numerical studies of a non-self-sustaining discharge in an atmospheric-pressure electron-beam-controlled CO2 laser medium are reported. The main focus of the paper is a numerical analysis of the effect of an oxygen impurity on the nature of the ionic-molecular processes determining the ionic composition of the discharge plasma and its conductivity.
