Durch Emulsionscopolymerisation wurden verschiedenartige Latices synthetisiert, die sich in ihrer Partikelgröße, der Hydrophilie des Polymers und der Oberflächenbedeckung mit funktionellen Gruppen unterschieden. Die Partikel wurden mittels Einschlußpolymerisation, kovalenter Bindung des Fluoreszenz-Farbstoffes während der Teilchenbildung und deswachstums bzw. nachträglicher Oberflächenmodifizierung der Latices mit intensiver Fluoreszenz ausgestattet. Konzentrierte Suspensionen der Teilchen wurden in das Hirngewebe der Maus injiziert. Die intrazelluläre Markierung von GliaZellen nach erfolgter Phagozytose und der retrograde Transport von Teilchen in Neuronen durch 2 unterschiedliche Typen fluoreszierender Latices konnten an Gewebeschnitten nachgewiesen werden.

Different types of latices were synthesized by emulsion copolymerization that differ in particle size, polymer hydrophilicity and surface coverage with functional groups. All of these particles were equipped with intensive fluorescence by inclusion polymerization, covalent bonding during particle formation and growth or surface modification of pre-fabricated latices, respectively. Concentrated particle suspensions were injected into the brain tissue of mice. The filling of glial cells by phagocytosis and the retrograde labelling of neurons with two kinds of beads could be shown in brain sections.
