Notes: Abstract From the halflife oft 1/2=3.91 (16) ns for the 21 + state in100Sr a deformation parameter ofβ=0.40(1) has been derived. Within the given uncertainties, this value is equal to the recently determinedβ-parameters for98Sr and99Sr, indicating that in the Sr isotopes saturation of deformation is reached immediately at its onset well before neutron midshell. This behaviour is reflected by the “twin” character of98Sr and100Sr with identical features of their unperturbed ground-state rotational bands. These observations are discussed in terms of strong two-nucleon interactions.

Notes: Abstract Levels in111Rh have been investigated via the γ -rays following the β−-decay of 2.1 s111Ru. The Ru activity was produced in the fission of249Cf and separated chemically from the fission product mixture. The emitted γ-rays were studied by γ singles and γ(t) coincidence measurements. Evidence for intruder states in111Rh has been obtained. Their properties are discussed and compared with those in the lighter Rh isotopes.

Notes: Abstract Magnetic moments around the Z=40 shell closure have been established using nuclear magnetic resonance on oriented nuclei (NMR/ON) in iron. From the resonance frequencies we established |μ(91Y;9/2+)|=5.96(6)μN, |μ(95Zr;5/2+)|= 1.103(23)μN, | μ(97Nb;9/2+)| = 6.153(5)μN. From the electric quadrupole alignement of95Zr+95Nb in a Zr single crystal Q(95Zr)=+0.29(5)b and Q(95Nb)〈0 have been derived. The results obtained are discussed using the Nilsson deformed single particle model. It is shown that for certain deformation regions, a measurement of the magnetic moment can give information on the nuclear quadrupole deformation.

Notes: Abstract The distribution of electric and magnetic charges and currents in the atomic nucleus can be used to probe various nuclear structure aspects. We discuss, in particular, magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments as well as nuclear radii starting from shell-model and collective model approaches. We give attention to the relation between the free electromagnetic coupling strenghts (ep, en, gl, gs) and the corresponding renormalized quantities and to the way in which polarization properties depend on the nuclear model space chosen. The above points are largely illustrated with recent experimental data on these various static moments (μ, Q, 〈r2〉). At the same time, the limits of applicability of the various model calculations in extracting preclse nuclear structure information from the above data are discussed.
