Notes: Composite tapes of the superconductor Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 on silver were irradiated with energetic light ions (0.8 GeV protons), creating extended splayed tracks ∼7 nm in diameter via fission of Bi nuclei. Magnetic hysteresis indicates large enhancements of persistent currents J, especially at high fields and temperatures, and substantial expansion of the irreversible regime. The technique may be suitable for large scale applications due to the long range (∼half meter) of fast protons.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary 60 twins were investigated between the age of ten and 18 years to obtain information about inheritance of tooth-crown size and growth of alveolar bone. The results suggest genetically controlled interaction between tooth germs during their formation. The intrapair differences decrease between ten and 18 years for the alveolar bone diameters. This is an advise for stronger genetically influences in higher age and an etiological factor for relapse after orthodontic treatment.

Notes: Zusammenfassung Mit Hilfe von biometrischen Untersuchungen an 60 ein- und zweieiigen Zwillingen werden Aussagen zur genetisch bedingten Variabilität der Zahnkronengröße und zu Alveolarfortsatzmaßen gemacht. Die Ergebnisse weisen auf genetisch bedingte Interaktionen während der Odontogenese hin. Die intrapaarigen Differenzen für Zahnbogenmaße nehmen vor allem für zweieiige Zwillinge mit steigendem Alter ab. Dies ist ein Hinweis für eine stärkere genetische Bindung und stellt einen Faktor für die Ätiologie von Rezidiven nach kieferorthopädischer Therapie dar.
