Notes: Abstract Cross sections, recoil energy distributions for residues produced by14N,20Ne,40Ar on124Sn targets have been measured in the 10–70 MeV/u intermediate energy range. As the projectile energy increases, processes as complete fusion-evaporation, incomplete fusion-evaporation and intranuclear cascade-evaporation participate progressively in the nuclear collisions. Peculiar residues corresponding to a gain of 4, 5 or even 6 protons for the124Sn target have been observed in the 30–50 MeV energy range.

Notes: Abstract The angular and velocity distributions of incomplete fusion residues have been measured, around 30 AMeV projectile incident energy, for a number of systems with varying mass asymmetries, from the most asymmetric S+Cu, to the almost symmetric Ar+Ca. The main experimental finding is that the parallel width of the velocity distribution increases sharply for decreasing asymmetries, while the perpendicular width remains nearly constant. Using, as data, the widths and mean values of the velocity distributions, it was possible to derive the number of preequilibrium particles emitted by the projectile and by the target. It was found that target emission becomes noticeable only when the center of mass velocity of the target, at nuclear contact, exceeds approximately 2.5 cm/ns. This underlines the relevance of the center of mass velocities in the preequilibrium emission and incomplete fusion processes.

Notes: Abstract A 4π-β detector was used at the Lohengrin mass separator to measure theβ-activity of mass chains 91, 93, 94, 95, 137 and 139 produced in the thermal neutron induced fission of235U. This activity was analysed intoZ-yields. The different possible corrections were considered and applied to the data. TheZ-yields from this work are compared with the diverse existing results obtained with other methods. The need for and significance of this method to determine theZ-distribution of fission fragments of the heavy group is discussed.

Notes: Abstract Half-lives and delayed-neutron emission probabilities (P n ) of short-lived Rb and Cs precursors in the mass chains 94–98 and 143–147 were measured. Sources of isotope separated nuclides were obtained from the on-line mass-separator OSTIS installed at the Grenoble high-flux reactor. A newP n -value of (25.4±3.2)% is given for the (214±30) ms147Cs; theP n -values of nine alkali precursor nuclides were redetermined: (2,730±20) ms94Rb with (9.7±0.5)%, (377 ±6)ms95Rb with (8.6±0.5)%, (197±5)ms96Rb with (12.5±0.9)%, (171±4) ms97Rb with (25.2±1.8)%, (114±13)ms98Rb with (18.4±2.9)%, (1,765±30)ms143Cs with (1.74 ±0.12)%, (1,000±10)ms144Cs with (2.95±0.25)%, (616±20) ms145Cs with (12.2±0.9)%, (325±10)ms146Cs with (13.2±0.8)%. The results are compared with the existing data, and theP n -values are discussed within some simple model predictions.

Notes: Abstract Further results are presented on half-lives and neutron emission probabilities (P n ) of short-lived delayed-neutron precursors in the mass chains 85–87, 92, 135, 136 and 145 obtained with the recoil focussing parabola-type mass separator for unslowed fission products LOHENGRIN installed at the Grenoble high-flux reactor. A newP n -value of (44±14)% is given for the (0.73±0.06)s87As; theP n -values of seven precursor nuclides have been redetermined: (1.9±0.1)s85As with (22±8)%, 0.9s86As with (10.5±2.2)%, (0.35±0.04)s92Br with (21±8)%, (1.6±0.15)s135Sb with (14±1)%, (0.9±0.1)s136Sb with (19±9)%, (17.5±0.2)s136Te with (2.0±1.0)% and 0.6s145Cs with (12.5±3.0)%. The results are compared with the existing data, and the neutron emission probabilities are discussed within a simple semi-empirical picture.
