Notes:
Protein and N-linked glycoprotein biosynthesis in normal epidermis and basal cell carcinomas were measured by the incorporation of 3[H] leucine and 3[H] mannose. Compared with normal epidermis, basal cell carcinomas had a reduced overall protein synthesis accompanied by an increased N-linked glycoprotein synthesis. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis showed that in the tumours the glycoprotein synthesis was restricted to molecular weight ranges with peaks at 95K (74K) and 38K, whereas in normal epidermis they were found at 95K, 62K, 52K and 43K.
