Notes: Abstract High spin states in85Y have been excited in the reaction72Ge(16O,p2n) at 48–60 MeV beam energy. From measurements ofnγ andγγ coincidences, excitation functions and angular distributions, the high spin spectrum of85Y has been established up to 5.4 MeV excitation energy and spinI≦29/2. Lifetimes or limits of lifetimes have been determined for 14 levels via the recoil distance and Doppler shift attenuation method. Theg 9/2 decoupled proton band is found to backbend atI π=17/2+ as also seen in the reduction of the 17/2+→13/2+ and 21/2+→17/2+ E2 transition strengths. The lowest (3qp) positive parity band has predominantly aν 2 g 9/2×πg 9/2 structure. The observed negative parity yrast states in the spin range 15/2−≦I≦29/2− are most probably of (g 9/2)2 ×(f 5/2,p 1/2) (3qp) nature as suggested by a comparison of the84Sr and85Y level structures and electromagnetic transition strengths.

Notes: Abstract The internal oxidation process of111In in Ag has been studied by means of the perturbed angular correlation technique. A homogeneous111In concentration of typically 0.05 at ppm has been produced by irradiating the Ag samples with 35 MeV α-particles. In particular, the effects of solving oxygen before the irradiation and of radiation induced defects have been explored. It is found that oxygen stabilizes the radiation damage by several hundred degrees. Four molecule-type complexes have been identified, consisting each of one111In atom, vacancies and oxygen atoms, among them one with cubic environment υ Q =0. The formation and desintegration kinetics of these complexes have been studied as function of the oxygen concentration and the irradiation and measuring temperature. A model is suggested which explains the oxidation process as due to diffusing oxygen and oxygen-vacancy pairs trapped by111In.

Notes: Abstract The agglomeration of oxygen at dilute111In in silver in the presence of radiation defects has recently been investigated via the perturbed angular correlation (PAC) technique. We propose here a detailed model description of the structures of In-O and In-O-vacancy complexes and of their reaction kinetics. It is shown that the dependence of the relative fractions of different complexes on the annealing time and temperature, the initial oxygen concentration and the irradiation dose can be approximated by first-order rate equations. Reaction enthalpies and reaction constants of the trapping and detrapping processes were derived from the isothermal and isochronal annealing programs and attributed to reactions which involve oxygen atoms and oxygen decorated vacancies.

Notes: Abstract The magnetic-dipole and electric-quadrupole hyperfine interactions of111Cd probes in fcc cobalt after implantation of radioactive111In+ ions have been investigated by PAC measurements with fast BaF2 detectors. Six different sites of the probe atoms could be distinguished and characterized by their hyperfine parameters and annealing behaviour. Besides the substitutional site, three sites are assigned to In-vacancy complexes which are formed athermally in the implantation process or by thermally-activated trapping of lattice defects in annealing stage III. The remaining two sites are attributed to In located in stacking faults or hcp regions of the host. Systematic trends of impurity hyperfine fields in defect sites become evident from a comparison with other impurity-host combinations. The temperature dependence of the magnetic hyperfine fields has been measured between 20 K and 390 K. Large differences found for the various sites are discussed.

Notes: Abstract Yrast states with spins as high as 22 ħ have been identified in76Kr with the reactions58Ni(24Mg,α2p) at 110 MeV and40Ca (40Ca, 4p) at 155 MeV. Simultaneous band crossings due to g9/2 proton and neutron quasiparticles have been observed in the frequency range 0.60≦ħω≦0.75 MeV. The moment of inertia increases rapidly at the crossing frequency. The systematics of proton and neutron alignments in the Kr isotopes are discussed.

Notes: Abstract Resonance energies and widths of four resonances in the reaction25Mg(p,γ)26Al were measured with the high resolution proton beam of the new 500 kV accelerator IONAS. The previously given large width of the 389 keV resonance, Γ= 460±70 eV. (1), used in the interpretation of stellar26A1 production was shown to be incorrect and probably caused by target oxidation effects and insufficient energy resolution of the beam. The new value is Γ〈4 eV.

Notes: Abstract By means of the reaction40Ca (36Ar, 3p), the band structure of73Br connected with the g9/2 single-particle proton orbit has been investigated up to Iπ=33/2+. In contrast to the core spectrum in72Se, which is dominated by the coexistance of different shapes, the nucleus73Br features rotational bands with slowly increasing moments of inertia. Their deformation β2=0.40(2) has been deduced from recoil distanc lifetime measurements.

Notes: Abstract High spin states in the doubly odd nucleus72Br were investigated via the reaction58Ni(16O,pn) at 52–65 MeV beam energy. A multi-element detector system consisting of ten Compton supressed Ge detectors (OSIRIS) and two NE213 neutron detectors was used to establish the yrast bands up to 5 MeV excitation energy and probable spins of 15+ resp. 14−. The lifetimes of 12 states and lifetime limits of four states were measured with the recoil distance method, among them four 0.5–3.1 ns isomers. Doppler broadened line shapes obtained in an additionalγγ-coincidence experiment via the reaction40Ca(36Ar, 3pn) at 125 MeV revealed further lifetimes and (very short) side feeding times. Three rotational bands were established with deformation parameters ¦β 2¦≈0.3 and moment of inertia parameters $$\tilde f$$ /ħ 2=36 MeV−1 (K ρ=1−) resp. 23 MeV−1; their quasi-particle configurations are being discussed.

Notes: Abstract We report on the first in-beam study of high spin levels in83Y which were established up to 9.0 MeV excitation energy and probable spin of 41/2+ resp. 27/2− by means of the reaction58Ni(28Si, 3p). Ten lifetimes and six lifetime limits in the 10−12–10−9 s range were determined in two recoil distance Doppler shift experiments. The positive parity yrast states form ag 9/2 Coriolis decoupled band with partial alignment, near-rigid rotor moment of inertia and deformationβ 2=0.29. The negative parity yrast band has very similar collective properties; it shows a pronounced band crossing at rotational frequency ħω≈0.40 MeV which we associate with twoquasiparticleg 9/2 proton alignment. At 2.56 MeV excitation, a second ΔI=1 band starting with 17/2− was found. On the basis of the similarity to85Y and the very weakE2 decay of this state, we suggest that this band has (3qp) configuration with an alignedg 9/2 neutron pair. The lifetimes of the lowest 2+ and 4+ state in84Zr populated in the reaction58Ni (28Si, 2p) were determined to be τ(2)=17.8(11) ps resp. τ(4)=3.5(4) ps.

Notes: Abstract Mean lives and limits of lifetimes have been determined for some ten mostly yrast states in70Se, by means of the recoil distance Doppler shift technique. The states were excited in the reaction40Ca(36Ar,α2p) at 115 MeV resp. the reaction58Ni(14N,pn) at 39 MeV beam energy. The systematic decrease ofB(E2) values along the the ground band transitions indicates a band crossing consistent with theγ-ray energies. Effects of continuum feeding times in both reactions are being discussed. The lifetimes of the lowest three yrast transitions in72Se have been remeasured by means of the reactions40Ca(36Ar,4p) and60Ni(14N,pn).
