Abstract A new high strength cement, developed with minimal internal flaws, has been investigated for use in surgery and dentistry. Preliminary results on the biocompatibility of this Macro-Defect-Free cement are given in this paper. The evidence suggests that the cement reacts slightly with the tissue environment, yielding some particulate debris. This increases the cellular activity and extends the period of the cellular inflammatory response following implantation.
