Notes: [Auszug] The necessary and sufficient condition for the generation of turbulence has been often discussed. The presence of shear is a necessary but not sufficient condition; the Richardson criterion5 has also to be satisfied. But, when account6-8 is taken of the heat exchange between the moving fluid and ...

Notes: [Auszug] The basic assumption of Schatzman and Maeder is that some sort of marginal instability generates turbulence. The turbulent transport flattens the distribution of the elements in the solar core, modifies the usual balance between the various nuclear processes and leads to a reduction of the central ...

Notes: [Auszug] An open letter to the President of the Polish Academy of Science Paris, 24 November 1982 SIR - We would like to raise the question of the fate of one of our Polish colleagues, Antoni Stawikowski, a matter which is of great concern to us. Antoni Stawikowski is a research scientist at the Nicolas ...

Notes: Abstract It is possible to predict the amount of gamma rays which are produced in various astronomical objects = gamma rays due to nuclear reactions, to bremsstrahlung, to cosmic rays, to annihilation of matter and anti-matter. These predictions are compared to the results of the observations with Explorer XI and are used to suggest new experiments. The following experiments are suggested: (1) to measure the γ flash associated with Supernovae; (2) to study the energy spectrum of γ rays from radio-sources; (3) to study the γ rays produced in the galaxy, in the halo, and in extragalactic nebulae. The weight of the instruments is sufficiently low to put γ astronomy among the immediate program of European space research.
