    Notes: Abstract Urinary recovery and serum determination of Paba were carried out in 48 control children (C) and 53 paediatric patients with cystic fibrosis (CF) divided into three classes by age. Ninety and 120 min after the ingestion of 15 mg/kg of BT-Paba and of a standard meal, serum Paba was determined. In the same subjects the percentage Paba recovery was measured in the urine collected during an 8 h period after the same administration of BT-Paba. Correlation between urinary and serum Paba values was higher in the older children in respect to the 0–2-year-old infants. A urinary Paba test was less sensitive and specific than a serum Paba test in the evaluation of exocrine pancreatic function. The best discrimination between C and children with CF, using the maximal value of serum Paba at 90 or 120 min (peak), was obtained in the younger infants (0–2 years old). BT-Paba test with serum Paba peak determination is recommended as a substitute for the classical urinary Paba test in the evaluation of exocrine pancreatic function in paediatric patients, especially in the younger infants.

    Notes: Abstract: Previous data indicate that the injection of dopaminergic drugs induces changes in cerebellar 3′,5′-guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) content. Accordingly, we have investigated the effects of haloperidol, sulpiride, or apomorphine on cerebellar prostaglandin (PG) concentration, a parameter related to cGMP content. Results obtained show that dopamine receptor blocking agents, such as haloperidol and sulpiride, significantly decrease cerebellar PGE2 and PGF2α concentrations, while opposite changes are induced by apomorphine, a dopamine receptor agonist.

    Notes: Abstract The behavioral responses of the rat to an extract of Cannabis sativa were examined after IP injection of 5, 15 and 30 mg/kg (expressed as Δ 9 tetrahydrocannabinol). The lowest dose of the extract induced stereotyped behavior (rhythmic head movements, intermittent gnawing and sniffing) together with hypersensitivity to stimuli and hyperthermia. The administration of higher doses of the extract resulted, initially, in similar behavioral effects but of greater intensity, followed by a cataleptic state alternating with atonic muscular prostration; rectal temperature was decreased. Pre-treatment with 6-hydroxydopamine (6-OHDA, which produces degeneration of catecholamine-containing nerve terminals) or pimozide (blocker of dopamine receptors) significantly reduced both stereotypy and hyperreactivity. Thermic effects were also antagonized by 6-OHDA pre-treatment. Cannabis-induced catalepsy was enhanced by pimozide but reduced by atropine (3 mg/kg SC). These results support the hypothesis that catecholamines play an important role in the complex behavioral effects of cannabis.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Messungen der elektrischen Leitfähigkeit und der magnetischen Susceptibilität sowie röntgendiffraktometrische und differentialthermoanalytische Untersuchungen von binären Verbindungen des Typs RCu wurden in einem weiten Temperaturbereich ausgeführt. Schmelzpunkte bzw. Zersetzungstemperaturen von RCu-Phasen (R=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb und Dy) und eine anzahl von Phasenübergängen im System FeB-CsCl sind zusammen mit den bestimmten Entropiewerten der Phasenübergänge angegeben. Die Temperaturabhängigkeit der Phasenübergänge weist eine ausgeprägte Hysterese auf. In den Systemen LaCu und CeCu konnten keine Phasenübergänge festgestellt werden, während sich bei TbCu und DyCu kein auf einen Phsenübergang hinweisender thermischer Effekt im Hochtemperaturbereich zeigt. Bei EuCu wurde ein nicht-reproduzierbarer thermischer Effekt nach einem thermischen Kreisprozeß nachgewiesen.
    Abstract: Резюме Измерения электриче ского удельного сопротивления, магни тной воспроиимчивос ти, дифракция рентгенов ских лучей и дифферен циальный термический анализ б ыли использованы для изу чения в широкой облас ти температур двойных с оединений RCu. Для соединений RCu (Я=La, Се, Pr, Nd,Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb и Dy) приведены точки плавления или температуры разл ожения, отдельные фаз ы и ряд структурных переход ов типа FeB-CsCl, а также определены т еплоты энтропии этих превращений. Для стру ктурных переходов при различных темпер атурах наблюдались б ольшие гистерезисные эффек ты. Для соединений LaCu и СеСи не было обнаружено стру ктурного превращения, тогда ка к для соединений TbCu и DyCu не пред ставилось возможным обнаружить какой-либ о высокотемпературн ый термический эффект п ревращения. Для соеди нения EuCu после циклического термического нагрев а был обнаружен невоспроизводимый т ермический эффект.
    Notes: Abstract Electrical resistivity, magnetic susceptibility, X-ray diffraction and differential thermal analysis have been performed over a wide temperature range on binary compounds RCu. Melting points or decomposition temperatures for RCu (R=La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb and Dy) phases and a number of FeB-CsCl structural transitions are reported, and heats and entropies of transformation are evaluated. Large hysteresis effects are observed for the structural transformations at different temperatures. In LaCu and CeCu no structural transformation was detected, while TbCu and DyCu failed to reveal any high-temperature thermal effect of transformation. In EuCu a nonreproducible thermal effect was evidenced after thermal cycling.

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Исследовали различное поведение Al2O3 и Pt−Al2O3 в типичных реакциях углеводородов при 500°C и атмосферном давлении. С помощью Pt−Al2O3 были достигнуты более высокие суммарные конверсии, он легче дезактивируется и дает большие отложения кокса, чем Al2O3, вследствие реакций, катализируемых Pt (гидрогенолиз, дегидрирование).
    Notes: Abstract The different behaviors of Al2O3 and Pt−Al2O3 for typical hydrocarbon reactions were studied at 500°C and atmospheric pressure. Pt−Al2O3 reached higher total conversion levels, was more easily deactivated and produced more coke deposition than Al2O3 due to reactions catalyzed by Pt (hydrogenolysis and dehydrogenation).

    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Была исследована каталитическая активность окисей алюминия с различным содержанием хлора в крекинге кумола, изомеризации о-ксилола, изомеризации и крекииге н-гексана и крекинте метилциклопентана. Каталитическая активность и кислотность непрерывно увеличиваются с увеличением содержания хлора. Обра-зование кокса заметно лишь в случае метилциклопентана, увеличеваясь с содер-жанием хлора в окиси алюминия.
    Notes: Abstract The catalytic activities of aluminas with different chlorine contents for cumene cracking, o-xylene isomerization, n-hexane isomerization and cracking and methylcyclopentane cracking were studied. The catalytic activity and the acidity increase continuously when the chlorine content increases. Coke formation is only noticiable with methylcyclopentane, increasing with the chlorine content of the alumina.
