Phosphazenes. LXXV. Four- and Fivemembered Phosphorus Heterocycles. LI. Monomeric and Dimeric 1,2,4,3λ5-TriazaphospholesAmidrazone hydrohalides condense with PCl5 via intermediates, which in part can be isolated, to 3,3-dichloro-1,2,4,3λ5-triazaphospholes. The 2-methyl derivatives form more readily and prove to be more stable than the 1-methyl or N-substituted derivatives. The dichloro-triazaphospholes join to tricyclic dimers in the sense of a phosphazene cycloaddition. The difluoro- and dibromo-triazaphospholes available from the chloro derivative by substitution and by bromination of the triaza-λ3-phosphole, respectively, are dimers too. The dichloro- and dibromo-triazaphosphole dimers exchange halogens to give the mixed substituted compounds, the redistribution being close to the random case. The mass spectra of the dihalotriazaphospholes are characterized by preferred breakdown o the triazaphosphole ring to give MeN2·, PhCN and a P+ fragment3,3-Diphenyl-, -diamino-, and -diaroxy-triazaphospholes in contrast to the halo derivatives are monomers. The diaroxy- and dialkoxy-triazaphospholes convert easily to triazaphospholinones.
