Notes: Summary The authors describe a case of intraorbital schwannoma. The tumour caused exophthalmos of 11 mm, and displacement with limitation of mobility of the eyeball. A review of cases from other studies is presented. This rare tumour orginates from the fifth cranial nerve. Exophthalmos is the primary clinical symptom. The value of several radiological examination techniques and possible surgical approaches are discussed.

Notes: Summary Smooth pursuit eye movements were studied in patients with cerebellar tumors. Patients were required to follow the motion of a pendulum whilst eye movements were recorded by an electro-oculographic technique. Disorders of eye movements correlated with other neurological signs and were clearly pathological even in cases with minimal cerebellar symptoms. This technique is a useful advance in the diagnosis of balance disturbances, because it may give an early indication of a cerebellar disease, without complex equipment or great expense of time.
