Notes: Abstract This paper is concerned with the melting of a packed snow heated by the radiative energy which is the blackbody radiation having source temperature of 3200 °K and short radiative energy. A transfer of the radiation in snow is significantly affected by both the porosity of snow and water saturation. The internal melting in snow is greatly characteristic for radiative heating which is to be produced by absorbing of a comparatively short wave radiation. In this study, an analysis is attempted to predict the variation of snow density, the moving rate of dry-wet interface of snow due to percolation of melt water, and the transient temperature distribution in dry snow zone located under wet snow zone.

Notes: Abstract Calculations on the basis of the extended interacting-boson approximation have been made for the positive-parity states of122–130Xe. The results of the calculations are compared with their energy levels, expecially the backbendings in the yrast bands, and with reducedE2 transition probabilities andg-factors. They are also compared with the staggerings in theγ-vibrational quasibands. The present calculations reproduce the experimental data concerning122–130Xe.

Notes: Abstract An active magnetic channels system has been constructed, in which the beam deflection is compensated by a pair of electromagnets close to the main magnet together with a steering magnet upstream. The residual beam deflection on the target is estimated to be ¦Δφ¦≤0.6°.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary The use of calcium and zinc salts of stearic, palmitic and myristic acids as surface-active indicators has been investigated in various buffer solutions. The back titration of nickel(II), cobalt(II) and their mixture with calcium chloride and the direct titration of copper(II) with EDTA has been successfully performed by using calcium palmitate and calcium stearate, respectively, as surface-active indicator. The end point, which is indicated by a remarkable change in surface tension, agrees well with the equivalence point.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary The differential pulse-polarographic determination of cobalt in the ppb-region after extraction of cobalt(III)-1-nitroso-2-naphthol chelate from citrate buffer solution (pH 5) into benzene is described. The cobalt(III) chelate is determined in a electrolysis solution composed of a 1∶1 mixture of the extract and acetonitrile solution containing 8 mmol/l perchloric acid and 0.2 mol/l sodium perchlorate. A well-developed reduction wave of the ligand in the cobalt(III) chelate is obtained. The limit of determination is in the range of 1–2 ppb of cobalt.
