Notes: Summary A case of congenital cerebellar tumor is reported. The tumor is composed of a few incomplete tubular structures analogous to the neural tube, and of neuroblastic, mature ganglionic, astrocytic, ependymal and undetermined neuroepithelial cells. A tentative diagnosis of congenital cerebellar neuroepithelial tumor with multiple divergent differentiations is made: the histogenesis is discussed. From a histogenetic point of view this tumor is given the provisional name of matrix cell tumor.

Notes: [Auszug] The experiments were done on the fast-twitch extensor digitorum longus (EDL) and slow-twitch soleus (Sol) muscles of the rat, and on human intercostal muscle obtained during thoracic surgery. The isolated muscles were mounted in a bath perfused with oxygenated mammalian Ringer10, which contained ...

Notes: Summary We present the details of our studies of leg lengthening since 1962. The operative technique is outlined and the experiments upon which we have based our method are described. The factors which determine the choice of operation and influence its outcome are discussed, the results of 252 tibial and 58 femoral lengthenings are analysed and our conclusions given.

Notes: Abstract Thermal annealing and light irradiation effects on hole and electron drift mobilities were studied for amorphous Se93.5As6.5 and Se94.3Ge5.7 films by means of a time-of-flight technique. The electron drift mobility and its activation energy show a drastic increase after the heat and light treatments, while the hole drift mobility remains almost unchanged. The change of electron transport is attributed to a relaxation of local structural distortion, which is correlated with relatively shallow localized states. The present experimental results are inconsistent with the prior proposal that electron transport in amorphous selenides is correlated with Se8 ring molecules.

Notes: Abstract β-Al2O3 formation fromm-Al2O3 was found by a new convenient technique. By thermal decomposition of a complex compound, trioxalatoaluminate Na x (NH4)3−x [Al(C2O4)3]yH2O(0.091 ⩽x ⩽ 0.333;y= 3), a very fine powder ofm-Al2O3 was formed. The decomposition process was examined by thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction and the phase relation of the system Na2O-Al2O3 in the midtemperature region between 600 and 1200° C is discussed briefly. The tablet ofm-Al2O3 was fired at 1600° C for 30 min to prepare denseβ-Al2O3 ceramics, the apparent density of which was greater than 95% of the theoretical value. The sintered tablet was examined from the structural point of view and the electrical conductivity was measured by an a.c. method to verify that the procedure of the complex decomposition is a suitable technique forβ-Al2O3 synthesis.

Notes: Abstract Potassium beta-alumina was synthesised from potassiumm-alumina by a new technique. Thermal decomposition of a complex, trioxalatoaluminate K x (NH4)3−x [Al(C2O4)3] ·3H2O (0.091⩽x⩽ 0.333), resulted in the formation of a fine powder of Km-alumina with mullite-like structure. The decomposition process was studied by thermal analysis and X-ray diffraction, and the phase relation of the K2O-Al2O3 system is discussed in the mid-temperature region of 600–1200°C. The a.c. conductivity, the apparent density and the lattice parameters were measured. The complex decomposition was shown to be a suitable method for Kβ-alumina synthesis.

Notes: Abstract The crystal phase and the electrical conduction in sesquioxide-alkaline earth difluoride systems were investigated. LaOF-type cubic solid solution was found in the system La2O3-CaF2. This phase showed anion conductivity comparable to that of YF3-doped CaF2. Electrolysis by Tubandt's method showed that the conduction was predominantly attributed to fluoride ions. In this solid electrolyte, the fluoride ion is easily substituted by oxide ion through cathode reaction in the oxygen atmosphere.
