Summary In the normal gastric mucosa, primarily in the region of the goblet part of the foveolar cells and in the surface epithelium there is a moderately intense to weak phospho-amidase activity. With epithelial proliferation and anaplasia the activity increases. The cells of gastric carcinoma are characterized by a very intense phospho-amidase activity which occurs throughout their cytoplasm. The activity increases with progressive dedifferentiation. Infiltrating cancer cells affect the enzyme activity of the normal epithelial cells of the adjacent mucosa. The degree of purity of the substrate (p-chloroanilido-phosphoric acid) is of decided importance in the occurrence of the phospho-amidase reaction (Gomori's method). The histochemical nature of acid phosphatase and the cytochemical localization of RNA are compared with the pattern of distribution of the phosphoamidase activity.

Zusammenfassung In der normalen Magenschleimhaut findet sich im wesentlichen nur im Bereich der Becherteile der Foveola-Zellen und Oberflächenepithelien eine mäßig starke bzw. schwache Enzymaktivität der Phosphoamidase, die mit fortschreitender Proliferationstendenz und Anaplasie zunimmt. Carcinome des Magens zeichnen sich durch eine sehr starke, das ganze Cytoplasma einnehmende Phosphoamidaseaktivität aus, die ebenfalls mit fortschreitender Entdifferenzierung zunimmt. Infiltrierend wachsende Krebszellen üben einen Einfluß auf die Enzymaktivität der angrenzenden normalen Schleimhautepithelien aus. Der Beinheitsgrad des Substrates (p-Chloroanilidophosphorsäure) ist für den Ausfall der Phosphoamidasereaktion (nachGomori) von ausschlaggebender Bedeutung. Es wurden weiterhin das histochemische Verhalten der sauren Phosphatase und die cytochemische Lokalisation der Ribonucleinsäure mit dem Verteilungsmuster der Phosphoamidaseaktivität im Magen verglichen.
