A survey on the reactions and synthesis of polymers including boronic acid groups is provided, particularly with respect to their application. The polymers substituted by boronic acid can be obtained by polymer synthesis as well as by modification of synthetic and native polymers. Among the reactions performed until now with polymers substituted by boronic acid the polycondensation, particularly with polyols, is the dominating reaction. The possible fields of application are predominantly the analytical and preparative separation of sugars, native substances containing carbohydrates, and other polyols.

Unter Betonung von Applikationsmöglichkeiten wird ein Überblick über Reaktionen und Synthesen von Polymeren mit Boronsäuregruppen gegeben. Mit Boronsäure substituierte Polymere sind sowohl auf dem Wege der Polymerisation und Polykondensation als auch durch chemische Modifizierung synthetischer und natürlicher Polymere zugänglich. Unter den bisher an mit Boronsäure modifizierten Polymeren durchgeführten Reaktionen dominieren Kondensations reaktionene, vor allem mit Polyolen. Die potentiellen Einsatzgebiete für derartige Polymere liegen vor allem in der analytischen und präparativen Trennung von Zuckern, kohlenhydrathaltigen Naturstoffen und anderen Polyolen.
