Notes: Summary Cytogenetic effects of endosulfan (ThiodanR) a member of the chlorinated hydrocarbon insedticide was tested in male albino rats. The insecticide was administered orally to rats at 0, 11.00, 22.00, 36.60 and 55.00 mg/Kg daily for 5 days. The highest doses were associated with clinical signs of insecticide poisoning and death. Cytogenetic analysis of bone marrow cells and spermatogenial cells did not reveal any significant effect of the insecticides on chromosomes. The ratio of mitotic index and frequency of chromatid break in the two cell types had no correlation with the doses tested and was not very different from those of the control group.

Notes: Summary Exposure of male rats to DDVP (21.4 mg/Kg/day) through dermal painting for a period of 90 days did not produce any changes in skin or testis. None of the animals showed any clinical symptoms of DDVP poisoning or mortality during experimentation. Rapid degradation of DDVP and further its detoxification in in liver of rats and other species of mammals seems to be the prime reason for the non-toxic effect of the insecticide.

Notes: Summary Cytopathological and histopathological changes in skin, liver, kidney and testis of rats due to nickel sulphate have been studied experimentally. Skin of nickel sulphate painted rats showed hyperkeratinization, vacuolization, hydropic degeneration of basal layer and atrophy of epidermis. The testis showed degeneration and oedema of seminiferous tubules, while liver showed areas of focal necrosis, congestion and dilatation of sinusoids.

Notes: Abstract Treatment with gibberellic acid (GA3) causes formation of flowers in Panicum ciliaceum and Panicum miliare, two short-day plants, under long days (continuous light), and hastens the emergence of ears in Setaria italica, a quantitative short-day plant, under both inductive and non-inductive photoperiods. The GA3-induced inflorescences, however, remain short and bear only few spikelets; in the two Panicum species, the spikelets also remain sterile.

Notes: Abstract A modified form of the Uhlenbeck-Beth representation for the second virial coefficient is used, together with the Fredholm theory of two-particle scattering, to obtain an upper bound on the partial wave contribution to the coefficient which holds if the intermolecular potential is sufficiently weak.

Notes: Abstract We study a general class of confinement potentials in Schrödinger theory using the analytic theory of continued fractions. We construct an infinite continued fraction representation for the Green's function and study its convergence, its analytic properties in the major coupling constant and its relation to the perturbation series. We prove the existence of normalizable confined state eigensolutions with equally spaced energy levels if certain constraints on the coupling constants of the theory are satisfied: we also show that under a separate set of constraints neither bound nor confined states exist.
