Notes: Abstract Using gaseous sources of Tc2O7 containing the radioactive isotopes94Tc,95Tc and96Tc, levels at 871.0keV (94Mo), 765.8, 820.6, 947.8, 1074.0keV (95Mo) and 778.3keV (96Mo) have been excited. From the effective cross sections for nuclear resonance scattering and from the lifetimes of the 947.8, 1074.0 and 778.3keV levels known from Coulomb excitation experiments the profiles of theγ-lines have been determined. A broadening of theγ-lines due to Coulomb explosion of the molecules has been observed. Making use of the line profiles, lifetimes ofΤ=(6.4±1.0) ps andΤ=(0.90 ± 0.20) ps have been determined for the 765.8 and 820.6keV levels, respectively. The angular distribution of the resonantly scattered radiation yields an amplitude ratioδ for the mixed M1 E2 765.8keV transition ofδ=0.14 −0.009 +0.08 . TheB(E2) from a Coulomb excitation experiment and the lifetimeΤ from the present experiment yield ¦δ¦=0.07±0.01 for the 820.6keV transition.

Notes: Abstract Differential cross sections for the elastic scattering of 2.754 MeV photons by Ta have been measured for angles ranging from 30° to 150°. A comparison with lowest-order Delbrück theory reveals discrepancies of the same size as previously observed for Pb and Bi. Consideration is given to interference phenomena between Delbrück, Rayleigh and nuclear Thomson scattering.

Notes: Abstract Differential cross sections for the elastic scattering of 2.754 MeV photons by Pu were measured for angles ranging from 45 to 120° and interpreted in terms of Delbrück, nuclear Thomson, Rayleigh and nuclear resonance scattering. It is shown that the largest part of the discrepancy between experiment and the lowest-order Delbrück theory can be removed by introducing a (Zα)4-dependent Coulomb correction term. Evidence is obtained for additional Coulomb correction terms of higher order in (Z α).

Notes: Abstract Profiles of the 264.6 keVγ-line of75As emitted after the electron capture decay of75Se have been measured using nuclear resonance fluorescence in combination withγγ-coincidences as a high resolution, variable-energyγ spectrometer. The sources consisted of gaseous75SeH2 with different amounts of Kr or Xe. From the line profiles information has been obtained about the velocity distribution of the radioactive75As ions after electron capture decay and about the slowing down of the75As ions in the moderator gas. The75As ions obtain kinetic energies of up toW∼5 eV by neutrino recoil and Coulomb fragmentation of the75SeH2 molecules, corresponding to velocities of the order of 105 cm s−1. The slowing down of the75As ions has been interpreted in terms of the model of colliding elastic spheres, taking into account the thermalization in an exact way. No satisfactory agreement has been obtained between measured and calculated line profiles. This result indicates that inelastic processes are of great importance in the interaction of75As ions or atoms with the noble gas moderator atoms.
