Summary The ability of polyanionic substances such as heparin, chondroitin sulfate, dextran sulfate, polyanethol sulfonic acid and polyvinyl sulfate in preventing the aggregation of constituents of the light mitochondrial fraction of rat liver at pH 3.0, 5.0 and 7.0 was investigated. The polyanions were found to act as potent agents in preventing the aggregation and disruption of the particles as shown by light scattering measurements and electronmicroscopy.
