Notes: Abstract The3He-elastic scattering and the (3He,t)-reactions on10B,11B and13C were studied. Excitation functions for the reactions10B(3He,t)10C and11B(3He,t)11C were measured at incident energies between 11 and 17 MeV. All angular distributions were taken at 14 MeV3He-energy. From an optical model analysis of the3He-elastic scattering data the parameters of the optical potentials were determined. Best fits were obtained using surface peaked potentials. The (3He,t)-reactions were interpreted in terms of a microscopic model, which, in general, gave a good account of the data. Corrections due to nonlocality effects were included in the calculations. A satisfactory agreement of the predicted and the measured cross sections required an effective nucleon-nucleon interaction of the Yukawa form (α−1=1.2 fm). Using a Serber exchange mixture the isospindependent- and the spin-isopin-dependent strength parameters of the potential were deduced to beVτ=21.4±2.3 MeV andV σ τ=19.5 ± 2.7 MeV, respectively.

Notes: Abstract. Measurements of open charm hadro-production from CERN and Fermilab experiments are reviewed, with particular emphasis on the absolute cross sections and on their A and $\sqrt{s}$ dependences. Differential $p_{\mathrm{T}}$ and $x_{\mathrm{F}}$ cross sections calculated with the Pythia event generator are found to be in reasonable agreement with recent data. The calculations are scaled to nucleus-nucleus collisions and the expected lepton pair yield is deduced. The charm contribution to the low mass dilepton continuum observed by the CERES experiment is found to be negligible. In particular, it is shown that the observed low mass dilepton excess in S-Au collisions cannot be explained by charm enhancement.

Notes: Abstract The symmetry property of the transition matrix for a reaction producing an isobaric multiplet (or identical particles) is derived from the generalized Pauli principle without any specific assumptions concerning the reaction mechanism. In contrast to previous predictions it is shown that for odd partial waves in the exit channel the cross section will generally not vanish at Θ = π/2 if the channel spin projections of the initial and final channels may be different.

Notes: Abstract Heavy reaction products (A≧38) were studied in the bombardment of48,50Ti by32S at 105, 130 and 144 MeV beam energies. At 130 and 144 MeV, fragments are observed which have angular and kinetic energy distributions consistent with those expected from fission of the composite system (A ∼ 80).

Notes: Abstract The semiclassical interpretation of heavy ion reactions is discussed. It is found that deflection to negative angles is inconsistent with optical model calculations. Due to the uncertainty principle trajectories are not well defined if the reaction is localized at the nuclear surface. It is, therefore, suggested that quantum diffraction is the dominating physical process for oscillating heavy ion transfer reactions.

Notes: Abstract The general symmetry properties of theT-matrix due to the exchange of identical cores in nuclear reactions between composite particles are given. For the case of direct transfer reactions an explicit expression for the cross section is derived in the distorted wave Born approximation. In this model the cross section is the coherent sum of two indistinguishable transfer processes. The relative phase between the corresponding transfer amplitudes is obtained from the Pauli principle and depends on the signs of the spectroscopic amplitudes which may, therefore, be determined experimentally.
