SUMMARY.— Some atopic children, usually girls, develop, in addition to dermatitis (eczema), prurigo of the skin, particularly of the face, neck and limbs, on exposure to sunlight. Five examples of this clinical presentation were studied and, on phototesting, using a xenon light source passed through a diffraction grating monochromator, no confirmatory evidence was obtained of abnormal response to light in the u. v. or visible spectrum. The relationship between this condition and Hutchinson's Summer Prurigo is discussed as is the relationship to polymorphic light eruption in the adult female.
