    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Eine fluorimetrische Methode zur Bestimmung von p. p. b.-Konzentrationen von Samarium in Gegenwart anderer Seltener Erden wurde ausgearbeitet. Sie beruht auf der Bildung eines Durchdringungskomplexes von Samarium mit 1,1,1,5,5,5-Hexafluoro-2,4-pentandion in absolutem Alkohol. Dieser Komplex zeigt ein für Samarium charakteristisches Fluoreszenzmaximum, so daß die Methode selektiv ist.
    Notes: Summary A fluorimetric method for parts per billion concentrations of Samarium in the presence of other rare earth ions has been developed. The method utilizes a charge transfer complex between 1,1,1,5,5,5-hexafluoro-2,4-pentanedione and samarium in absolute ethanol. This complex shows a fluorescence emission maximum characteristic of the Samarium, which accounts for the selectivity of the method.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Einige Pyrazylmethylketone wurden auf ihre Fähigkeit zur Chelatbildung mit Metallionen untersucht. Die Protonendissoziationskonstanten der Liganden und die Chelatbildungskonstanten wurden aus potentiometrischen Daten berechnet, die nach Irving und Rossotti ermittelt wurden. Die Chelatbildungs-konstanten der Pyrazylmethylketone wurden mit denen ähnlich strukturierter Chelatbildner verglichen. Die analytische Brauchbarkeit der untersuchten Ketone wurde diskutiert.
    Notes: Summary Several pyrazylmethyl ketones have been investigated in regard to their potential analytical utility as chelating agents for metal ions. Proton dissociation constants of the ligands and metal chelate formation constants were calculated from potentiometric data using the method of Irving and Rossotti. Chelate formation constants obtained in this study allow comparisons to be made between pyrazylmethyl ketones and other chelating agents possessing similar structures. The potential analytical utility of the title compounds is discussed.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Eine Reihe von 2-Pyrazylmethylketonen wurde durch Acylierung von 2-Pyrazylmethylnatrium mit Estern verschiedener Carbonsäuren hergestellt; und zwar das Methyl-, Äthyl-, Isopropyl-, tert-Butyl- und das Phenylketon. Die analytische Brauchbarkeit dieser Verbindungen wurde systematisch untersucht und eine Anzahl zweiwertiger Metalle gefunden, die mit diesen Ketonen in geeigneter Weise reagieren.
    Notes: Summary A series of 2-pyrazylmethyl ketones was prepared by the acylation of 2-pyrazylmethylsodium with the esters of various carboxylic acids. The methyl, ethyl,iso-propyl,tent-butyl, and phenyl ketones were prepared. The analytical utility of the 2-pyrazylmethyl ketones was systematically investigated and potentially useful interactions with a number of divalent metal ions were observed.
