    Description / Table of Contents: Abstract Complexes of lead(IV) chloride with bidentateSchiff bases have been prepared. The analytical data indicate 1∶2 stoichiometry. The complexes are nonelectrolytes inDMF, and appear to be octahedral. The UV and infrared spectra of the complexes are discussed and possible structures have been proposed.
    Notes: Zusammenfassung Es wurden Komplexe des Blei(IV)chlorids mit zweizähnigenSchiffschen Basen hergestellt. Aus den Analysenergebnissen ergibt sich die Stöchiometrie als 1∶2. Die Komplexe sind inDMF Nichtelektrolyte und scheinen oktaedrische Struktur zu besitzen. Die UV- und IR-Spektren der Komplexe werden diskutiert und mögliche Strukturen vorgeschlagen.

    Description / Table of Contents: Es wurden 1:1-Komplexe von Blei(IV) mit drei vierzähnigen SCHIEFschen Basen (s. I-III im Text) rein dargestellt. Da aie Nichtelektrolyte in DMF sind, wird auf oktaedrische Konfiguration geschlossen. Ihre IR-Spektren zeigen keine Anzeichen für wasserstoffbrückengebundene OH-Gruppen. Die phenolischen C—O-Valenzschwingungen sind zu längeren Wellenlängen verschoben, und die v C=N-Verschiebung legt eine Koordination durch den Stickstoff der Azomethingruppe als Ligandatom nahe.
    Notes: 1:1-complexes of lead(IV) with these tetradentate SCHIFF bases have been prepared in the pure form. These are non- electrolytes in DMF, and hence can be considered to have octahedral configuration. The IR spectra of the complexes show no pattern for H-bonded OH. The phenolic C—O stretch shows a shift towards longer wavelengths. The C=N stretch shows a shift suggesting possible co-ordination through nitrogen of the azomethine group.

The complexes are yellow in colour, non-electrolytes in DMF and appear to be octahedral. The UV, IR and NMR spectra of the ligands and the complexes are reported.
