Summary Separation of enantiomers by gas chromatography with chiral phases of general purpose is studied, in the presence or absence of an electric field. Although peaks are not split, products trapped while peaks are rising always have optical activities of opposite sign to those trapped while the corresponding peaks are falling. Using this method it was possible to differentiate threo and meso isomers of 3,4-dibromohexane.
