Description / Table of Contents:
Notes:
Abstract Human lymphocyte cultures were exposed to different concentrations of cyproheptadine (0.55×10−4; 1.1×10−4; 2.2×10−4; 4.4×10−4M) for 24 and 5 hrs before the end of incubation time and examined for induced chromosomal damage. With the concentration 4.4×10−4 M, as well as in the 24-hour test with a concentration of 2.2×10−4 M, the toxic damage was so severe that only few, greatly deformed cell nuclei were found. 300 metaphases each for the 5-hour exposure with 2.2×10−4 M and for the lower concentrations could be evaluated. No increase of chromosomal damage was observed in comparison to the controls. These results are discussed in the context of other findings.
