Summary The distribution and concentration of glycogen, neutral lipid and alkaline phosphatase were studied histochemically in developmental stages of the tapeworm, Hymenolepis diminuta. Examination of immature, mature and gravid proglottids from worms of selected ages showed a general trend of increasing concentration of glycogen, neutral lipid and alkaline phosphatase from the anterior to the posterior of the worm. However, no significant difference was observed in the concentration of these substances in individual proglottid types from worms of various ages.
