    Notes: Zusammenfassung Der natürliche sowohl als auch der synthetische Greigit (kubisches Fe3S4 von Spinelltyp) wird von Mackinawit (tetragonales FeS) begleitet. Umwandlung des ersteren Kristalles (Größe: ca. 500 AE) in den letzteren setzte an Oberfläche des ersteren ein. Dies ließ sich mit Hilfe von härteren und weicheren Elektronen (Wellenlänge: 0,03–0,06 AE) ermitteln.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Ein Eisensulfid Fe2S3, das den Gamma-Typ der Spinellstruktur aufwies, ließ sich mit Hilfe der Elektronenbeugung nachweisen. Der Kristall dieses Sulfids enthielt Gitterleerstellen und war infolgedessen chemisch aktiver als Fe3S4. Die Formel Fe(□1/3 Fe5/3)S4 war dem betreffenden Sulfid zuzuordnen. Die bisher dargestellten Eisensulfide vom Spinelltyp entsprachen den Mischkristallen Fe3S4-Fe2S3.
    Notes: Abstract An iron sulphide Fe2S3 that showed the Gamma-Al2O3 type of spinel structure was detected by means of electron diffraction. The crystal of this sulphide contained lattice vacancies, and consequently it was chemically more active than Fe3S4. The formula Fe(□1/3 Fe5/3)S4 was associated with the sulphide concerned. The iron sulphides of spinel type that were produced hitherto corresponded to mixed crystals Fe3S4-Fe2S3.

    Description / Table of Contents: On the polymorphic relation between Greigite and Smythite (Fe3S4)Cubic greigite Fe3S4 is elongated along its[111] axis in an electrostatic field. The distorted lattice thus formed corresponds to the hexagonal smythite. Greigite as well as smythite remain stable only in a state of fine crystallites (grain size: about 300 Å). On trying to grow up these crystallites, both of them transform into the coarse by granular pyrrhotite (about 1000 Å).
    Notes: In einem elektrostatischen Feld dehnt sich der kubische Greigit Fe3S4 nach der [111]-Achse aus. Das auf diese Weise entstandene verzerrte Gitter entspricht dem des hexagonalen Smythites. Sowohl Greigit als auch Smythit sind nur im feinkristallinen Zustand (Korngröße: etwa 300 Å) beständig. Versucht man, sie wachsen zu lassen, dann wandeln sie sich beide in den grobkörnigen Magnetkies (etwa 1000 Å) um.

    Description / Table of Contents: Formation of Ferromagnetic Fe2S3Fe2S3 belongs to the space group Fd3m of spinel type, possesses lattice size 9.87 Å, and shows ferromagnetism. It is formed by hydrothermal treatment of precipitated iron sulfide. Crystallographic analysis was carried out in referring to γ-Al2O3.
    Notes: Fe2S3, das zur Raumgruppe Fd3m vom Spinelltyp gehört (Gitterkonstante 9,87 Å) und ferromagnetisch ist, bildet sich durch hydrothermale Behandlung von gefälltem Eisensulfid. Die kristallographische Analyse (Elektronenbeugung) wurde durch Vergleich mit γ-Al2O3 durchgeführt.

    Description / Table of Contents: A mixture of Fe3S4 (greigite) and FeS2 (pyrite) is formed at 200°C on hydrothermal treatment of freshly precipitated iron sulphide. Its electron diffraction diagramm was recorded, which corresponded to an incomplete solid solution of Fe3S4 and FeS2. The surface and the interior of the spherical particles of the samples (size about 500 Å) consisted of Fe3S4 and FeS2, respectively.
    Notes: Ein Gemisch von Fe3S4 (Greigit) und FeS2 (Pyrit) bildet sich bei 200°C durch hydrothermale Behandlung von frisch gefälltem Eisensulfid. Aus dem Elektronenbeugungsdiagramm ist eine unvollkommene Mischkristallbildung von Fe3S4—FeS2 zu ersehen. Die Oberflächen der kugelförmigen Probeteilchen (Größe etwa 500 Å) bestanden aus Fe3S4 und das Innere aus FeS2.

    Description / Table of Contents: A mechanical mixture of iron thiospinel and pyrrhotite was prepared on purpose by the hydrothermal process. On the diffraction pattern from this mixture the lattice size of iron thiospinel a0 = 9,875 ± 0,003 Å at about 40°C was determined in reference to that of pyrrhotite.
    Notes: Ein mechanisches Gemenge von Eisen-Thiospinell und Magnetkies wurde auf hydrothermalem Wege hergestellt. Aus dem Elektronenbeugungsbild dieses Gemenges wurde die Gitterabmessung von Eisen-Thiospinell zu a0 = 9,875 ± 0,003 ÅE bei ca. 40°C (bezogen auf die von Magnetkies) bestimmt.
