Notes: [Auszug] We have investigated the pyridine.2I2 crystalline complex, prepared according to the method cf Prescott and Trowbridge2; the structure of this compound, in the solid state, has been established by Hassel and Hope3. Crystals were directly introduced on the high vacuum side of the introduction system ...

Description / Table of Contents: Summary From the five different cell types to be distinguished in the retina of the pineal organ ofLampetra planeri, the nerve cells have been studied electron microscopically during winter time. A single plexiform area has been observed which is basally situated in the pineal epithelium. 1. In the neuronal cell body the following elements have been specially investigated: nucleus, Nissl substance, Golgi apparatus and dense granules (850 Å), mitochondria, neuroplasmic and intramitochondrial glycogen, neurotubules and neurofilaments, and subsurface cisterns (SSC). 2. The dendritic processes of the nerve cells synapse (ribbon type) with the processes of the sensory cells. Their axonic processes most probably constitute the pineal tract which is composed of either one or of several branches. More than 600 non-myelinated fibers have been counted in the efferent pineal tract. In this tract, satellite cells and cells with residual bodies are also present. 3. From the results obtained, which are discussed in relation to the biology of the lamprey, it appears that the sensory apparatus in the lamprey pineal epithelium is well differentiated.

Notes: The various modes of fragmentation of 1,4 dithiane and 1,4 oxathiane under electron-impact have been discussed using variation of their mass spectra with electrons energy, high resolution and AP of the main ions. It is shown that they are qualitatively very similar, but differ considerably from those of 1,4 dioxane.
