Notes: Summary When reconstruction operation of the common bile duct cannot be carried out, anastomoses of the roots of the bile duct or of the segmental ducts with the intestinal tract should be considered. The essence and the results of hepatoenterostomy are discussed. The indications are narrowed to malignant stenose (carcinoma and echinococcus alveolaris). In cholestasis due to scarring hepatoenterostomy is indicated in the rarest and most exceptional cases only, perhaps as first act of a multiphased procedure. Another way in which the liver may be decongested is by diahepatico-diaenteral long-term drainage after Dick and Dortenmann, the advantages and results of which are demonstrated by the speakers' patient population.
