Notes: Abstract The exact solution of thet-matrix integral equation derived from the self-consistent Nagaoka equations in the theory of dilute magnetic alloys is established. It is shown that the unique solution for thet-matrix involving all Kondo type anomalies can be found under quite general assumptions. Using the exact solution we have calculated thermodynamic properties of dilute magnetic alloys. It is found that the excessive specific heat of the system due to the anomalous scattering of conduction electrons from the magnetic impurities is of the order ofBoltzmann's constant per local moment at low temperatures. In the limit of vanishing temperature the specific heat goes to zero asymptotically as (lnT)−4. Finally the entropy difference of the interacting system as compared to the free system is calculated.

Notes: Abstract The correlation of a magnetic impurity spin with the spin density of the conduction electrons in a dilute magnetic alloy is calculated non-perturbationally on the basis of the Nagaoka theory. It is shown that there are anomalies due to the Kondo effect in the long range behaviour of this correlation which contradicts the bound state interpretation of the Kondo effect. The most interesting detail is the appearance of a non-oscillating contribution to the correlation.

Notes: [Auszug] There has been considerable speculation as to the nature of the mechanism which determines the onset and the length of the D-periods. One hypothesis is that the .D-state involves the discharge of some substance which has accumulated during waking and during sleep without dreaming and that the ...

Description / Table of Contents: Summary Blood levels of adenosine-mono-, -di- and-triphosphate, NAD, NADP, G-6-P and F-6-P were enzymatically determined in 46 healthy subjects, 40 patients with chemical diabetes and 149 patients with clinical diabetes. In both groups of patients AMP levels were significantly decreased. In addition, patients with clinical diabetes showed a significant rise of G-6-P and F-6-P. Triglycerides were elevated in both chemical and clinical diabetics.

Notes: Summary Two methods have been worked out for the purity control of iodine containing X-ray contrast media of the aminobenzoic acid series. The methods apply to the determination of compounds containing a free amino group, which are especially important with regard to storage life. They are based on the determination of the iodine splitted off by means of elementary bromine and on diazotization and subsequent coupling reaction, respectively. The methods are very sensitive and can also be used for an investigation of the reaction kinetics.

Notes: Abstract A theorem is derived for the Kondo model describing the interaction of conduction electrons with a localized magnetic impurity. The theorem states that the model preserves exact particle-hole symmetry. This implies that for fixed chemical potential the average particle number is unchanged as compared to the noninteracting case independent of temperature and applied magnetic field. The consequences of the symmetry property for the one particle density of states are also investigated. Finally the theorem proves to be a useful tool to check current approximate theories of the Kondo effect on their validity.

Notes: Abstract TheT-matrix of the Nagaoka-Suhl theory for the scattering of conduction electrons from a magnetic impurity is discussed in the weak coupling limit. A law of corresponding states is established where the Kondo temperature appears as a scale factor. Some characteristic features of theT-matrix are listed which are to be used in a subsequent calculation of the spin correlation function.

Notes: Abstract The ground state energy of dilute magnetic alloys as described by thes-d-exchange Hamiltonian is calculated within the Nagaoka-Suhl theory. For integral impurity spinS it is shown that for positive coupling constantγ the energy is a holomorphic function ofγ. For negative coupling one obtains an additional singular contribution of the form (−1) s−1 e 1/γ (γ〈0). As this changes sign for different integral s-values, the interpretation of the singular part as a binding energy suggested previously does no longer hold. For half integral spin the energy is a singular function for bothγ〉0. The singularities are not as elementary as in the case of integral spinS, but are rather related to those of the exponential integral function. In particular, forγ〉0 the origin (γ=0) is a branch point. Earlier variational calculations are compared with our new results.
