Zusammenfassung Die biochemische Untersuchung ergibt in der Zytoplasmafraktion des Tumorhomogenats bei 71% der Tumorproben eine über dem Durchschnittswert des Menopausenovars liegende Aktivität. Bei endometrioiden und entdifferenzierten Carcinomen ist die Aktivität besonders hoch. Die Höhe der Enzymaktivität geht in erster Linie dem Epithelanteil in der Untersuchungsprobe, aber auch der Anfärbungsstärke bei der histochemischen Reaktion parallel. Histochemisch ist das Enzym in der Hälfte aller Fälle im Tumor, ungleichmäßig verteilt. In den einzelnen Tumorbezirken sind am häufigsten die Randpartien zum Bindegewebe, einzelne Zellkomplexe oder sogar Einzelzellen, besonders invasiv gewachsene, verstärkt gefärbt. Das Verteilungsmuster ist im Ovarialtumor, in der Netzmetastase und im Carcinom des Endometriums im wesentlichen gleich. Einen gewissen Einfluß auf das Enzymmuster haben der Differenzierungsgrad des Tumorepithels und eine Endoxanbehandlung, weniger das Ausbreitungsstadium und das Alter. Carcinome mit bestimmten Verteilungsmustern der Lactat-dehydrogenase scheinen besser auf die Therapie mit Endoxan und Röntgenstrahlen anzusprechen.

Summary In 72% of the cytoplasmic fractions of homogenized ovarian carcinomas the LDH activity exceeds the average value of menopausal ovary. In endometrioid and undifferentiated carcinoma the activity is particularly high. The amount of enzymatic activity parallels the amount of epithelium in the specimen as well as the intensity of the histochemical staining reaction. In half of all cases the enzyme histochemically is irregularly distributed in the tumor. In general, the marginal parts of the tumor adjacent to connective tissue, or individual complexes of cells or even single cells showing invasive growth, are more intensely stained. The pattern of enzyme distribution is essentially the same in ovarian tumor, in omental metastases, and in endometrial carcinoma. The degree of differentiation of the neoplastic epithelium and treatment with endoxan have a stronger influence on enzymatic pattern than do clinical stage of the carcinoma and age of the patient. Carcinoma with special enzymatic patterns of lactate-dehydrogenase seem to react more positively to treatment with endoxan and X-rays.
