Attempts to prepare cyclic siloxanes [H2SiO]n in substance by hydrolysis of dihalogensilane in an inert solvent were unsuccessful. After elimination of the solvent the major part of the product was solid and highpolymeric, while the minor part, a volatile, lowpolymeric substance, polymerized rapidly. IR spectra were taken at various stages of the polymerization and compared with “re-measurements” on [H2SiO]4, [CH3HSiO]2[H2SiO]2 and [(CH3)2SiO]2[H2SiO]2 The observed frequencies were assigned to the individual vibration modes. The analysis of the IR spectra points out that two-and threedimensional networks arise in the course of the polymerization of these compounds.

Versuche, cyclische Siloxane [H2SiO]n durch Hydrolyse von Dihalogensilan in einem inerten Lösungsmittel in Substanz darzustellen, blieben erfolglos. Nach Entfernung des Lösungsmittels lag der größte Teil des Hydrolysenproduktes in fester, hochpolymerer Form vor, während der geringe Anteil an flüchtiger, niederpolymerer Substanz sehr schnell polymerisierte. Es wurden IR-Spektren in verschiedenen Phasen der Polymerisation angefertigt und mit „Nachaufnahmen“ von [H2SiO]4, [CH3HSiO]2[H2SiO]2 und [(CH3)2SiO]2[H2SiO]2 verglichen.Die mittleren Frequenzen wurden den einzelnen Schwingungsformen zugeordnet. Die Analyse der IR-Spektren zeigt, daß bei der Polymerisation dieser Verbindungen flächenhafte und räumliche Vernetzungen auftreten.
