Notes: [Auszug] IT has been reported1 that the enzyme system which converts all-cis 8,11,14-eicosatrienoic acid into prostaglan-din E! (PGEJ also reacts with lids, 14cis-eicosadienoic acid yielding ll-hydroxy-12£rans,14c^s-eicosadienoic acid (I). A small amount of this acid has now been prepared by ...

Notes: Prostaglandins occur in many animal species and tissues. They are C20-carboxylic acids contining one five-membered ring, one keto group, two or three hydroxy groups, and one to three C=C double bonds. Their structures were elucidated by chemical, radiochemical, and physical methods in combination with gas chromatography and mass spectrometry. The prostaglandins are biosynthesized from essential fatty acids. By their action smooth muscles are stimulated and lipid metabolism is affected.
