Summary Diagnostic tissue cultures of pleural and abdominal exudates were carried out in 30 cases. The diagnoses of the tissue culture agreed with the clinical diagnoses in 23 of the cases. In 6 cases only the tissue culture gave the correct diagnosis. In one instance the autopsy diagnosis was different from the tissue culture diagnosis. In the tissue cultures the tumor cells form large cell grups, which are valuable diagnostically.

Zusammenfassung In 30 Fällen wurde die Gewebezüchtung an thorakalen und abdominalen Exsudaten zu diagnostischen Zwecken durchgeführt. Die Gewebezüchtungsdiagnose stimmte in 23 Fällen mit der klinischen Diagnose überein; in 6 Fällen ergab nur die Gewebezüchtungsuntersuchung die richtige Diagnose. In einem Fall wich der Sektionsbefund von der Gewebezüchtungsdiagnose ab. Die Tumorzellen bilden in der Gewebekultur große Zellgruppen, die für die Diagnose verwertbar sind.
