Abstract The distribution coefficients of mono- and dibutyl phosphates between an organic phase containing tributyl phosphate in hydrogenated kerosene, and water and nitric acid, alkali and soda solutions were determined. It was found that a concentration of monobutyl phosphate below 0.001 mole/liter (equilibrium concentration) and of dibutyl phosphate below 0.0001 mole/liter hardly affected the extraction of plutonium with tributyl phosphate.
