    Notizen: Abstract The experimental results on the photochromic and mechanical properties of coatings containing 1,3-dihydro-1,3,3-trimethylspiro[2H-indole-2,3′-(3H)-naphth(2,1-b)(1,4) oxazine] (SO) derived from 3-glycidyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS), bisphenol A (BPA) and 1-methylimidazole (MI) by sol-gel processing are presented. It is shown that heat treatment temperature is a conflicting factor to the photochromic intensity (Δ A 0), photostability and abrasion resistance of the photochromic coatings. With increasing densification temperature the matrix rigidity increases leading to a decrease of Δ A 0 and at the same time an enhancement of both abrasion resistance and photostability, the optimum heat treatment temperature is 110°C under our experimental conditions. By the use of certain additives, e.g., fluorosilanes (FAS), not only Δ A 0 but also the photostability and the abrasion resistance of the photochromic coatings have been further improved.

    Notizen: Abstract Aluminosilicate and ORMOCER gels and coatings containing photochromic dyes, 1, 3-dihydro-1, 3, 3-trimethylspiro-[2H-indole-2, 3′-[3H]-naphth-[2, 1-b][1, 4]-oxazine] (SO) and 1′, 8a′-dihydro-2′, 3′-dimethoxycarbonyl-spiro [fluorene-9, 1′-indolizine] (DHI), were prepared by the sol-gel method and the photochromic activity was monitored in the course of the sol-wetgel-xerogel transformation. The photochromic activity of the aluminosilicate gels decreases rapidly and even vanishes in the wetgel-xerogel stage while that of ORMOCER gels and coatings levels off in the early wetgel-xerogel stage at a reasonably high photochromic intensity with the colour-fading speed similar to that in ethanol and the photostability being considerably improved. The experimental results are discussed in terms of the matrix effect on photochromism of organic dyes.

    Notizen: Abstract The electronic transitions from the ground state to the 3d states have been studied for23Na and7Li atoms by two-photon Doppler-free laser spectroscopy. The positions of the resonances are used to determine the unresolved hyperfine structure of the 3d states from which the magnetic-dipole hyperfine interaction constantsA are derived. The results for theA factors are:A(3d 2 D 3/2;23Na)=+527(25) kHz;A(3d 2 D 5/2;23Na)=+108.5(2.4) kHz;A(3d 2 D 3/2;7Li)=+843(41) kHz;A(3d 2 D 5/2;7Li)=+343.6(1.0) kHz. For the fine structure intervals fs of the 3d doublets we obtain: fs(3d Na)=-1 494 444(44) kHz and fs(3d Li)=+1 083 936(60) kHz. The linewidths of the resonances are evaluated with respect to the natural lifetimes of the 3d states. For Na the result is τ(3d Na)=19.27(23) ns.
