On the Kinetic Stabilization of Silabenzene: Matrix Isolation and Characterization of 2,4,6-Tris(trialkylsilyl)-Substituted l-tert-Butyl-l-silabenzene1-tert-Butyl-2,4,6-tris(trimethylsilyl)-1-silabenzenen (4) and 1-tert-butyl-2,6-bis(isopropyldimethylsilyl)-4-(trimethylsilyl)-1-silabenzenen (6) arise from high-vacuum pyrolysis of the corresponding silacyclohexadiene precursors 3 and 5 with elimination of methyl trimethylsilyl ether and are proved at deep temperatures by UV and IR spectroscopy. They are stable up to 90 K even without an argon matrix, but they decompose unspecifically at higher temperatures. In the pyrolysis of 3 and 5 in the absence of argon as matrix material, beside 4 and 6, presumably also the methyl trimethylsilyl ether adducts 7 and 8 are formed, which decompose at 110 K. The product 9, arising from the pyrolysis of 3 with tetrahydro-2-methylfuran as matrix material, is also described as a base adduct of 4. The incorporation of trialkylsilyl groups in 2,4,6-position and of a tert-butyl group in 1-position is not sufficient to kinetically stabilize the silabenzene molecule decisively.
Notes:
