    Notes: Summary In order to elucidate the phase specificity of the embryo-lethal and teratogenic action of actinomycin D (day 5–10 of gestation) rats received 3H-actinomycin D at different times of gestation. The distribution of the radioactivity in the fetus and the placenta was measured. Moreover, the effects of actinomycin D on the RNA polymerase reactions in isolated nuclei of the decidual and fetal tissue were studied. The biochemical results were correlated electron microscopically with specific alterations occurring in different structures of the total implantation sites. These studies show that the time-dependent embryo-lethal and teratogenic effects of actinomycin D result from a lesion of the embryo and the decidua. The effects of the decidua occur at an earlier time and are more pronounced as compared to those of the embryo. Since the decidua is significant for the nutrition of the embryo till closure of the yolk-sac and beginning of the yolk-sac circulation (day 10 of gestation), the direct effects of actinomycin D on the embryo are intensified by the lesion of the decidua. After day 10 of gestation till the beginning of the placental function 3H-actinomycin D passes over to the embryo. But the concentration-even after a dose of 1 mg/kg-does not suffice to inhibit in vivo RNA polymerase reactions in isolated nuclei.

Preparation and Properties of [Ti(CH2CN)4 · 2 THF]nTetracyanomethyl titanium, [Ti(CH2CN)4 · 2 THF]n, can be prepared by reaction of TiCl4 with LiCH2CN in form of a tetrahydrofuran complex. The brown, stable compound, which seems to be a coordination polymer, was characterized by i.r. and 1H-n.m.r. spectra.
    Notes: Tetracyanmethyltitan läßt sich durch Reaktion von Titan(IV)-chlorid mit Cyanmethyllithium als braune, thermisch recht beständige, offensichtlich koordinationspolymere Verbindung der Formel [Ti(CH2CN)4 · 2 THF]n gewinnen. Eine nähere Charakterisierung erfolgte mittels des IR- und des 1H-NMR-Spektrums.

Preparation and Properties of Tetrabenzyl Molybdenum and Tetrabenzyl UraniumTetrabenzyl molybdenum, (C6H5CH2)4Mo, can be obtained by the reaction of MoCl4 · 2 THF with dibenzyl magnesium. The compound forms darkbrown crystals, which are stable at room temperature. The analogous reaction of UCl4 · 3 THF with dibenzyl magnesium yields a reddish brown complex of tetrabenzyl uranium of the formula (C6H5CH2)4U · MgCl2. The synthesized compounds are characterized more in detail.
    Notes: Tetrabenzylmolybdän, (C6H5CH2)4Mo, läßt sich durch Umsetzung von Molybdän(IV)-chlorid-bis(tetrahydrofuran) mit Dibenzylmagnesium in Form schwarzbrauner, bei Zimmertemperatur beständiger Kristalle gewinnen. Bei der analogen Reaktion von Uran(IV)-chlorid-tris(tetrahydrofuran) mit Dibenzylmagnesium entsteht ein rotbrauner Tetrabenzyluran-Komplex der Formel (C6H5CH2)4U · MgCl2.  -  Beide Verbindungen werden näher charakterisiert.

On the Preparation and Properties of Tetrabenzyl Vanadium and Benzyl Tantalum ChloridesPure tetrabenzyl vanadium was isolated and characterized by elementary analyses, EPR and 1H-NMR spectra, by hydrolysis and thermal decomposition.  -  Experiments for the preparation of tetra or pentabenzyl compounds of niobium and tantalum failed, but we could prepare C6H5CH2TaCl4, (C6H5CH2)2TaCl3, and (C6H5CH2)3TaCl2, the last two in form of bipyridyl complexes.
    Notes: Vanadintetrabenzyl wurde in definierter Form isoliert und durch Elementaranalyse, ESR- und 1H-NMR-Spektrum sowie durch die hydrolytische und thermische Spaltung charakterisiert.  -  Versuche zur Gewinnung von Tetra- und Pentabenzylverbindungen des Niobs und Tantals blieben erfolglos. Es gelang jedoch, die Verbindungen C6H5CH2—TaCl4, (C6H5CH2)2TaCl3 und (C6H5CH2)3TaCl2, zum Teil in Form von Dipyridylkomplexen, zu gewinnen.
