    Notizen: Abstract A 21-year-old woman with a family history of von Hippel-Lindau disease presented with a mass in the head of the pancreas. Light microscopic features of the tumour suggested neuroendocrine differentiation and although it displayed positive immunostaining for the antigens expected in a neuroendocrine neoplasm, S-100 staining was also present. This unusual feature prompted further evaluation by routine and post-embedding protein-A gold immunoelectron microscopy, which demonstrated the presence of neuroendocrine granules. Tumour cell DNA content was normal by flow cytometry. Although this patient exhibited no other signs of von Hippel-Lindau disease, the presence of a pancreatic tumour with neuroendocrine differentiation demonstrated that she was affected. Future surveillance and genetic counselling will be influenced by this diagnosis.

    Notizen: The technique for staining unsaturated additives within cotton fibers reacts osmium tetroxide with a sorbyl moiety which has been attached to the cellulose chain. Resulting electron micrographs indicate that contrast is considerably enhanced. Measurements of fibrillar size averaged 0.30 nm, closely approximating the values in the literature.

    Notizen: Fibrillar size of native cellulose was studied in detail by electron microscopic and x-ray techniques. Samples included natural fibers of cotton and ramie as well as algal and bacterial celluloses. Results indicated smaller sizes for cotton and ramie than was previously reported in the literature and a possible difference in fibrillar sizes among celluloses.

    Notizen: From the solubility of precipitated Co(OH)2 (s) determined radiometrically as a function of pH and ammonia content of the heterogeneous systems, the formation constants have been obtained for the following mononuclear hydroxo-, ammine- and mixed hydroxo-ammine-complexes: Co(OH)2, Co(OH)3-, Co(NH3)22+, Co(NH3)32+, Co(NH3)42+ and Co(OH)2 (NH3)2. The solubility of cobalt(II) hydroxide has also been calculated. The medium was 1M NaClO4 and the temperature 25° C.

    Notizen: Using a new mathematical treatment, the nature and stability constants of the simple and mixed complex-species of copper(II) with hydroxyde and ammonia as ligands have been determined. The solubility curves of CuO in heterogeneous equilibrium have been identified in function of pH only and in function of pH and pNH3tot at 25° and unit ionic strength (NaClO4).The predominent species in the relatively dilute system limited by the ionic strength are [Cu2+], [Cu(OH)2], [Cu(OH)3-], [Cu(OH)42-], [Cu(NH3)22+], [Cu(NH3)32+], [Cu(NH3)42+], [Cu(NH3) (OH)+], [Cu(NH3)3(OH)+] and [Cu(NH3)2(OH)2].
