    Notes: Summary The chitin synthetase inhibitor plumbagin and its 2-demethyl derivative juglone were found to inhibit in a dose-response fashion the cytochrome P-450 dependent ecdysone 20-monooxygenase activity associated with adult femaleAedes aegypti, wandering stage larvae ofDrosophila melanogaster, and fat body and midgut from last instar larvae ofManduca sexta. The concentration of these naphthoquinones required to elicit a 50% inhibition of the steroid hydroxylase activity in all the insects was approximately 1×10−4 M.

    Notes: Abstract The adenylate cyclase activator forskolin and its pharmacologically inactive derivative 1,9-dideoxyforskolin were found to inhibit in a dose-dependent fashion the ecdysone 20-monooxygenase activity associated with wandering stage larvae ofDrosophila melanogaster and fat body and midgut from last instar larvae of the tobacco hornworm,Manduca sexta. The concentrations of these labdane diterpenes required to elicit a 50% inhibition of the cytochrome P-450 dependent steroid hydroxylase activity in the insect tissues ranged from approximately 5×10−6 to 5×10−4 M.

    Notes: A dual oven gas chromatograph incorporating a micro, mechanical switching valve has been interfaced to an FTIR spectrometer. With this system, each oven can be operated with independent temperature control. Complete choice of the columns' type and capacity gives flexibility in the separation prior to spectroscopic evaluation. An application which demonstrates some of the advantages of column switching in GC/FTIR is presented. Minor sample components have been successfully analyzed by heart-cutting the appropriate section of the separation from a high to a low capacity column. In this way, the dynamic range of the technique is effectively increased while an efficient chromatographic inlet to the FTIR is maintained.

    Description / Table of Contents: The proton magnetic resonance spectra of several 1,3,2-diazaboracycloalkanes have been investigated. The resultant data indicate a planar structure at least for such five or six-membered heterocycles. This occurrence provides for the possibility of B—N multiple bonding and one can expect a high B—N bond order in such systems. This result is in agreement with vibrational spectroscopic studies.
    Notes: Die 1H-Kernresonanzspektren einiger 1,3,2-Diazaboracycloalkane wurden untersucht. Die spektralen Daten deuten auf einen ebenen Bau zumindest der fünf- und sechsgliedrigen Heterocyclen. Damit ist die Ausbildung von B—N-Mehrfachbindungen grundsätzlich möglich und man kann mit einer hohen B—N-Bindungsordnung in diesen Verbindungen rechnen. Dieses Ergebnis steht im Einklang mit schwingungsspektroskopischen Untersuchungen.

Insbesondere werden eindeutige Zuordnungen der 1H- und 13C-Kernresonanzspektren von B-(Pyrazol-1′-yl)pyrazabolen vorgenommen, die mit Hilfe zweidimensionaler NMR-Spektroskopie erhalten wurden. 11B-NMR-Spektren von B- und C-substituierten Pyrazabolen wurden zusammengestellt und die ersten 15N-NMR-Spektren derartiger Verbindungen werden berichtet.
    Notes: NMR spectral data on some pyrazole derivatives of boron are presented. In particular, definite assignments of the 1H and 13C NMR spectra of B-(pyrazol-1′-yl)pyrazaboles are made utilizing two-dimensional NMR techniques. 11B NMR spectra of a variety of B- and C-substituted pyrazaboles are accumulated and the first 15N NMR data on such species are reported.
