Notes: Telechelic diols(10-13 and 15-18) were synthesized by addition of 2-mercaptoethanol(2) and dithiols (3 and 4) to 9-undecen-1-ol (9), ω-hydroxyalkyl esters of 10-undenoic acids (8a-c) or N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-10-undecenamide (5) in the presence of benzoyl peroxide in quantitative yields. The resulting diols have a length in the range of 15 to 50 carbon atoms. They show, however, properties of isomolecular substances.
