Synthesis of Basic Hydroxydiphenylhexanones and -heptanonesThe synthetic route described in the literature5) does not lead, as falsely assumed, to 4-(m-hydroxyphenyl)-6-morpholino-4-phenyl-3-hexanone (24c) which is quoted by many authors to be the only known m-hydroxy derivative in the methadone series. The compound obtained according to the literature proved to be 4-(2-bromo-5-hydroxyphenyl)-6-morpholino-3-hexanone (16c). Compound 24c was synthesized using another route. Compounds related to 24c as well as m-hydroxymethadone (27f) and m-hydroxyisomethadone (27g) were obtained by analogous methods.

Auf dem in der Literatur5) beschriebenen Syntheseweg erhält man nicht, wie irrtümlich angenommen, 4-(m-Hydroxyphenyl)-6-morpholino-4-phenyl-3-hexanon (24c), das von vielen Autoren als einzig bekanntes m-Hydroxy-Derivat der Methadon-Reihe zitiert wird. Die nach den Literaturangaben erhaltene Verbindung erwies sich als 4-(2-Brom-5-hydroxyphenyl)-6-morpholino-3-hexanon (16c). Verbindung 24c wurde auf anderem Weg erstmals synthetisiert. Auf analoge Weise wurden Verwandte von 24c, sowie m-Hydroxymethadon (27f) und m-Hydroxyisomethadon (27g) hergestellt.
