Notes:
Since in chromatography of proteins on anion exchangers the best separations are to be expected with the use of cationic buffers and of pH-gradients reaching acidic pH-values, new cationic buffers have been studied, covering the pH-range from 10,5 to 3,5. Their composition and their properties are reported; in particular, their capacity to give a good pH-control during chromatography, their lack of inhibition over most enzyme systems, their interference with many procedures for Cl- determination (a modification of the brucin method has been worked out) have been studied.
