Notes:
The chromium(VI)-catalyzed oxidation of 1-indanol into 1-indanone has been carried out with sodium percarbonate (SPC), urea-hydrogen peroxide adduct (UHP), or aqueous hydrogen peroxide. It has been established that the superiority of SPC over UHP and aqueous H2O2 is due both to its nonhydrated structure and its basic properties. This classifies SPC as a “dry basic carrier of H2O2”.
