Notes:
The 13C NMR characteristics of the polyaminocarboxylate ligands EDTA [(HO2CCH2)2NCH2CH2N(CH2CO2H)2],DTPA (HO2CCH2)2NCH2CH2N(CH2CO2H)CH2CH2N(CH2CO2H)2 and NTA [N(CH2CO2H)3] and their Tl(III) complexes are reported. The pH dependence of the 13C shifts of the ligands is helpful in understanding the 13C coordination chemical shifts, Δδ, but not the thallium-carbon coupling constants J(205TI, 13C), which vary markedly for no apparent reason. The anion Tl(DTPA-5H)2- contains three non-equivalent coordinated carboxyl functions and a suggestion is made to account for this lower symmetry.
