Notes:
The electrochemical behavior of a thin film of poly-3 coated on a platinum working electrode is described. Poly-3 is a polymethacrylate substituted with an azo anthraquinone unit in the side chain. It can be reduced and oxidized reversibly in a two step redox process using high sweep rates in cyclovoltammetry assuming an EE mechanism. For low sweep rates an EC mechanism is indicated by irreversible reduction. Future work will focus on the synthesis of a copolymer in order to prevent the appearance of the EC mechanism.
